Ultimate Slow-Cooked Pulled Pork Recipe

Ultimate Slow-Cooked Pulled Pork Recipe

Makes 8-10 servings

This Ultimate Slow-Cooked Pulled Pork Recipe is not just a dish; it’s a declaration of communal feasting, a fragrant ode to shared tables. Imagine succulent shreds of pork, slow-cooked to perfection, nestled in a cozy embrace of buns. Pulled pork is the maestro orchestrating harmonies of flavour, and at potlucks, it steals the spotlight, turning every gathering into a carnivorous celebration. With its tender allure and smoky whispers, pulled pork beckons, urging us to savour not just the meat but the collective joy of breaking bread together. INGREDIENTS

4–5 lb pork shoulder or rump roast
¼ cup packed brown sugar
4 Tablespoons sweet paprika
3 Tablespoons kosher salt
3 Tablespoons pepper
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons celery seed
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

RECIPE

  1. Rinse the roast, dry it with paper towels, and place it in a slow cooker.
  2. Combine the sugar, paprika, salt, pepper, garlic and onion powders, celery seed, and cayenne pepper in a bowl and then rub all over the surface of the meat.
  3. Cook on high for 8 hours, or on low for 12 hours, turning once at the halfway mark. I like to throw this together in the morning and serve it for dinner. Just before serving, use 2 forks to pull the tender meat apart and let it soak up the juices that have accumulated.
